Ad Comm Travel FAQ’s

Who is eligible for travel assistance?
ANYONE
with a friend, family member, or loved one with Duchenne who is coming to the April 25th Advisory Committee meeting is eligible for travel assistance.  Assistance is not limited to those with a formal role in the AdComm.

What is covered?
The Jett Foundation and UCLA will cover airfare, and Jett Foundation will cover hotel for up to three nights.  If you’re traveling from overseas or need additional accommodations for any reason, let us know and we will work with you.

How do I get assistance?
Register via Eventbrite here and indicate you’d like to be contacted about help with travel expenses.  You’ll be contacted within one business day with detailed instructions, and our travel agent will book your travel and send you your itinerary.  We cannot reimburse you for flights or hotel you booked yourself.  If you already registered on Eventbrite and requested help with travel, but have not received detailed instructions, please email us at RSVP@theracetoyes.org and we will be in touch within one business day.

What happens next?
Once you have registered via Eventbrite, you will receive a link within one business day to a form you’ll fill out to provide the specifics of your travel request (dates, city of origin, etc.).  Our travel agent will then book your travel.  Airfare for speakers will be paid for by UCLA, but ALL who need travel assistance will use the same form to request travel assistance.

Is child care available?
Child care is available for children who are potty-trained.  You MUST let us know ahead of time that you need childcare by emailing RSVP@theracetoyes.org with names, ages, and any special needs.  Deadline to email your request for childcare is Wednesday, April 20.  If you don’t contact us by that date, we cannot guarantee your child can be accommodated.  Child care will be available on Sunday, April 24 from 2pm-5:30pm and on Monday, April 25 from 7:00am-5:30pm.

When should I arrive?
OPH speakers should arrive on Sunday, April 24 in time to attend a speaker orientation session at 2:00pm at the Sheraton Hotel, 8777 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD.  All other attendees should arrive on Sunday, April 24 in time to attend the community reception that evening from 5:30-8:30pm, also at the Sheraton.

When should I depart?
The AdComm is scheduled to conclude by 5:00pm on Monday, April 25.  You can depart that evening or the next day.
