Biden dismisses concerns about mental fitness, says he’d drop out if the ‘Lord Almighty’ told him
President Joe Biden addressed concerns about his mental fitness during a recent press conference, dismissing any doubts and stating that he would drop out of office if the “Lord Almighty” told him to do so.
Biden, who is 79 years old and the oldest person to ever assume the presidency, has faced questions about his mental acuity since his campaign for the White House. Critics have pointed to his occasional gaffes and verbal slip-ups as evidence of cognitive decline, while others have raised concerns about his ability to handle the rigors of the presidency.
However, Biden has consistently pushed back against these criticisms, insisting that he is fully capable of carrying out the duties of the presidency. During the press conference, he brushed off questions about his mental fitness, stating, “I’m in great shape, knock on wood. I’m able to still ride a bike. I’m able to still swim.”
When pressed further about his mental acuity, Biden responded, “If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, you’re not mentally fit, you’re not physically fit to lead,’ I would step down. But I don’t believe that would happen.”
Biden’s comments come as he faces mounting challenges on multiple fronts, including the ongoing pandemic, a struggling economy, and growing tensions with Russia over Ukraine. Despite these challenges, Biden remains confident in his ability to lead the country and has shown no signs of stepping down.
While some may continue to question Biden’s mental fitness, his assertion that he would step down if necessary shows a level of self-awareness and humility that is often lacking in politics. Whether or not one agrees with his policies or decisions, it is clear that Biden is committed to serving his country to the best of his abilities. Only time will tell if his confidence in his own mental fitness is justified.
